About
I am an artist, illustrator and web graphic designer. I started this blog mainly to post my latest drawings and to write a bit about them. These drawings are typically on-the-spot, quick sketches I make while on the train, at a pub or any place people congregate and do anything interesting. Most of these sketches will be relative to the Miami / Fort Lauderdale area, and Florida in general. I like the blog format because I can share insights or stories about the drawings, and people can participate by leaving comments. Some examples of these drawings can be found on my website under Commuter Rail Sketches, which was published by the Sun Sentinel in defense of saving our Tri-Rail, which I ride each business day to work.
I will also write about my work as a web graphic designer. I am a Photoshop designer and retoucher for a retail company. I design banners, emails, page elements and manage product photography retouching. Although not an initial requirement for my job, I have taught myself HTML and CSS in order to contribute to other aspects of eCommerce site design, and now use them in my work regularly.
Although essentially a beginner to coding, I have redone my website at www.kristincurrier.com to W3C validated HTML and CSS. It’s simple, but it’s SEO-friendly clean code and it works…and I’m in the process of learning advanced CSS and other development tools in order to give it a more complex and artistic design. Thank you, Lynda.com!
And now we have WordPress! I am a beginner to WordPress. So, this blog is a bit sparse right now. I am also currently teaching myself WordPress development, so expect improvements as I go!
Thanks for visiting. Please feel free to contribute!

HiKristin,
Found you on Facebook. Remember me? you were in my art class at Quincy College. Your painting of that painted building is still at the college, actually in the Business office in Newport Hall. Really love your work on your website.
Am still teaching, with 5kids (Daughter Caroline artist at Wampoline.com) and 5 grandkids, still living in old house. Other daughtere lives in Miami so do visit down there once a year. Do you ever come back to Hull?
Would be glad to hear from you: 781 383 6388, Best wishes, marylou
